vegetarian

I recently read about a substance found in meat (and rarely elsewhere) that is responsible for telling our brains that we are full, supposedly one of the reasons many vegetarians tend to gain weight after their switch (other than substituting their meat consumption with carbohydrates and fat).

What is it called? I lost the magazine. :p Thanks!

Edit: Guys, I'm a vegetarian and I get it, but lets not get so defensive about this. Unless we find out what the name of this mineral is, and then look up information/studies, we can't call bullshit. If it helps, I'm 90% sure it started with a C. lol...sorry I'm not more help. So, even if this is false, does anyone know what people CLAIM this mineral is?

Secondly, your diet has a HUGE affect on hormone production. That's why even hormonal acne problems are often corrected by diet, for example. Even if your body is responsible for telling you that you are full...what you eat affects hormone production and how efficiently your body works. I'm not saying this makes me an expert at all, but to be fair, I've taken a lot of pre-med & nutrition classes, and this is pretty textbook...what you consume affects everything your body does. So it's very possible that a nutrient could have an effect on the hormones that tell your brain you are full.

Edit edit: Some of you are making it clear why a lot of people really despise vegetarians. You're closed minded, pushy, and defensive. I only know one other vegetarian in my life and we don't act like this. Hormone production, which tells your body that you are full, is directly influenced by diet. THIS ISN'T AN INSULT TO VEGETARIANISM.
